String Masters - Privacy Policy

QiiU Systems Inc. operating as String Masters ("String Masters", "us", "we", or "our") operates the String Masters website https://www.stringmasters.com (the "Site"), together with all the information, Content (as defined in the Terms of Use), products, materials, and services made available through the Site (collectively, the "Services").

String Masters respects the privacy of its Users and Members ("you", "your") and has developed this Privacy Policy to demonstrate its commitment to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the information we collect, how that information may be used, with whom it may be shared, how it is protected, and how long it is retained.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference in the Terms of Use (the "Agreement") of the Services. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, capitalized terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in the Agreement.

1. Consent

By accessing and using the Services, you expressly consent to the collection, use and disclosure of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

If you are under the age of 18 you must have your parent or guardian consent to your use of the Services. If you are under the age of 18 and have not obtained consent from your parent or guardian to use the Services and emailed that consent to support@stringmasters.com you must immediately cease all use of the Site and the Services.

Whenever you provide information to String Masters or contact String Masters through other means, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of that information in accordance with the provisions of this Privacy Policy.

To withdraw consent to the collection, use and disclosure of data, you may contact us at support@stringmasters.com. You may request that your account and all associated data be removed at any time though this may mean that you immediately lose access to the Services.

2. Information Collection

We collect different types of data, described in sections 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 below (collectively, the "Collected Data"), to provide our Services to you and to improve the Services on an ongoing basis. Note that some information is collected automatically though our Site and, if some information, such as your name and email address, is not provided, we may be unable to provide the Services to you.

2.1 Personal Data

While using our Services, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information ("Personal Data"). Personal Data is information that can be used on its own, or with other information to identify, contact or locate an individual. It does not include non-personal information like business information or generic information common to many individuals. In order to become a Member or take an a la cart lesson through the Site, you will be asked to provide Personal Data. When you do so, you authorize us to collect, access, manage and retain information that may include, but is not limited to:

  • First name;
  • Last name;
  • Email address;
  • The string instruments you play or are learning to play;
  • Users and/or Members that purchase a paid version of the Services provide String Masters (or its payment processors) with billing details such as credit card information and/or a billing address;
  • Age;
  • Gender; and/or
  • Level of musical education.

2.2 Non-Personal Data

We also collect, access and retain data that does not permit direct association with any specific individual. This may include, for example, your level of interest in music and musical development, and information about your musical playing history.

Through the Services, Members have the option of uploading images and documents (sheet music, for example). This material is collected and stored on the Site purely for your convenience and reference for use while engaging with the Services.

To take a lesson through the Services access to webcam/device camera settings, audio settings and usage information are required.

2.3 Data that is Automatically Collected

We may place a unique cookie on your browser and use such cookie to automatically track Non-Personal Data while you are using our Services. We may also collect information that is anonymous, such as your IP address (a number used to identify your computer on the Internet) or the type of browser you are using ("Anonymous Data"), through the use of cookies or by other means. We hope that, by using Anonymous Data, we can update the Services to make them more useful to you, other Users, and Members.

String Masters collects information about devices accessing the Site, including the type of device, and what operating system and version is used. String Masters may also track and collect what browser is used to navigate to the Site and other log data that is commonly collected by websites on the Internet. This information is collected for the purposes of improving the Services and in some cases, we may accrue this data for demographic reporting to other parties.

3. Use of Data

String Masters uses and retains the Collected Data for purposes, such as:

  • To provide and maintain our Services;
  • To notify you about changes to our Services;
  • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Services when you choose to do so;
  • To provide User and Member support;
  • To administer a sweepstake, contest, or similar promotion, when you provide your consent to be entered into those programs;
  • To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Services;
  • To monitor the usage of our Services;
  • To detect, prevent and address technical issues;
  • To maintain data security and privacy; and
  • To better understand our Users and Members and to make suggestions for Content that may be of interest to our Users and Members within the Services.

4. Disclosure of Data

String Masters may disclose Collected Data if legally required to do so, or at our discretion pursuant to a request from a governmental entity or if we believe in good faith -- after considering your privacy interests and other factors -- that such action is necessary to:

  • Meet legal requirements;
  • Comply with a legal obligation;
  • Protect and defend the rights or property of String Masters;
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Services;
  • Protect the personal safety of Users of the Services or the public; and/or
  • Protect against legal liability.

If such circumstances arise, we will aim to disclose only the specific information that is needed under the circumstances and, wherever possible, will inform you about the disclosure.

5. Security of Data

You are responsible for keeping your username and password secret.

String Masters takes appropriate measures to secure your information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration or disclosure. However, the Internet is an open system and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat those measures or use your personal information for improper purposes.

Collected Data will be stored on servers observing standard security protocols. All passwords, pass-phrases, and sensitive information will also be encrypted in the database.

6. Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Services ("Service Providers"). For example, we use a third party to facilitate online web conferencing and for video/content storage. We also engage a third party to collect payment related to the Services.

These third-party Services Providers may have access to and retain your information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose. Note that each of these third-party Service Providers have their own terms of use and privacy policies which apply to them.

7. Child and Youth Privacy

To the extent prohibited by applicable law, String Masters does not allow use of our Services by anyone younger than 18 without parental or guardian consent. Upon subscribing as a Member a parent or legal guardian must submit written approval to us authorizing use of the Services by persons younger than that age.

Protecting the privacy of youth and children is especially important. For that reason, String Masters does not knowingly collect or maintain Personal Data or Non-Personal Data through the Services from persons under the age of 18 without the verified consent and permission of a parent or legal guardian. If you are under the age of 18, please do not use or access the Services at any time or in any manner without your parents' or guardians' permission.

If String Masters learns that Personal Data or Non-Personal Data of persons under the age of 18 has been collected on the Site or through the Services, then String Masters will take prompt and appropriate steps to delete this information.

If you are a parent of a youth under the age of 18 and you believe that your child is using the Services in violation of our policy, please contact us at support@stringmasters.com to provide permission or request that access to the Services be terminated.

8. Retention and Deletion of Collected Data

Collected Data through active accounts will be retained and stored on our host's server as long as the account remains active. An account is deemed inactive after 6 months. All data on an inactive account will be permanently deleted upon deeming the account inactive. Should you wish to terminate and permanently delete your account before it is deemed inactive you may do so by emailing support@stringmasters.com.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. We will let you know via email and/or a prominent notice on our Services, prior to the change becoming effective and update the "effective date" at the top of this Privacy Policy.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page. Any use of the Services after the effective date will constitute as acceptance of such changes.
